In June 2002, Erik graduated from America's leading healing arts school, the Heartwood Institute. In Amsterdam he graduated from the School for Zen Shiatsu.

Erik offers two types of massages. The first type is a unique combination of traditional Swedish massage, Polarity therapy and Zen Shiatsu. The second is a shiatsu treatment.

Swedish massage is a classical relaxation massage which reduces stress and stimulates blood circulation, leaving you feeling both relaxed and invigorated.

Polarity therapy is based on the Ayurvedic tradition. The human body is seen as an energy system and through the application of pressure; balance is restored as negativity energy is released. This stimulates your general physical and emotional well-being and therefore develops personal growth.

Zen Shiatsu massage
involves the use of acupressure. Bases on the ancient Japanese and Chinese medieval tradition, shiatsu restores the balance in and between the meridians, to improve and maintain a healthy body-mind.

Kirchhoff Fysio is specialised in the following:
- Sport and dance injuries (or: overburdening complaints);
- Rehabilitation after surgery or trauma;
- Complex and long existing complaints for example, whiplash, RSI, lower back-, groin and Achilles tendon problems.

Kirchhoff Fysio distinguishes themselves by:
1) Clear explanation about the problem, which training is suitable for you and which is not. Plus advice on the duration of the treatment (i.e. number of weeks.)

2) Research and treatment are not only restricted only to the problem area, but also effect the joints and muscles around the problem. The complaints and the compensations of this problem will be fixed. This is one of the most important reasons why the same complaint will never occur again.

3) Intensive and specially developed depth massage of the muscle tissue. If necessary, special joints techniques and an extensive stretching program can be used.

4) By loosening the muscle tissue and by stretching, the basic conditions are created to start training. By increasing the strength and endurance the problem will be solved.

5) All our physiotherapists work according to the same method.

6) No waiting lists.

Opening hours: Monday until Friday from 7.30am - 9.30pm and Saturday from 9am - 5pm.

The first consultation is for free, as it is better to double check than coming too late. You can contact Kirchhoff Fysio on: 020-6125456 or  06-55892683; please leave a message on the answering machine and they will get back to you as soon as possible. Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. B. Rietveld

Dr. Rietveld is an orthopaeditric surgeon linked to the medical centre for dancers and musicians in the MCH Westeinde in The Hague. Since the opening of DanceStreet in 2004, he has kept a weekly consulting hour on Wednesday morning at DanceStreet. This hour is intended on appointment, as well as for dancers, both professional and active amateurs, from the Amsterdam region and is available by appointment only.

The aim is the prevention, diagnoses and treating of injuries and disorders caused by dancing. The conservative (= not-surgical) treatment exists - after careful diagnostics - from explanation and advice, in combination with a possible reference to a practise therapist (at Mensendieck or César) or physiotherapeutic or medical doctor with pills or injections. Necessary operations can be undertaken by Dr. Rietveld in the MCH Westeinde or Antonius in The Hague.

There is an agreement with the OLVG loc. Prinsengracht in Amsterdam for radiographies and laboratory research. The expenses of consultation and treatment by Dr. Rietveld can be completely reimbursed by all Dutch health insurance funds and private care insurers.

Biography A.B.M Rietveld (1952):

Boni Rietveld studied both medicine and music (trumpet and harp) in 1976, graduating from the Royal Academy The Hague. In 1978, he completed his medicine study at the university of Leiden.

He trained as an orthopaeditric surgeon in Leiden and qualified in dancing medicine at the New York City Ballet.

In 1988, he became the orthopaeditric surgeon for the Dutch dancing theatre. He continued his work in the medical centre for dancers and musicians in the MCH Westeinde, and set up his own business in 1993, in The Hague.

He refers to himself as orthopaeditric surgeon exclusively for dancers and musicians.
