  Humphrey Bennet   December 2007 t/m Februari 2008

We are very pleased to have Humphrey Bennett back, here in DanceStreet! The third exposition of his dancing drawings has started this December.Marianne Selie Chief editor of Magazine DANS, will attend the official opening –with a dance performance- in January.

Humphrey Bennett (1948) was educated at the North-East London School of Arts. 25 Years ago he moved to the Netherlands to make his career as a designer and a drawing teacher. Most people know him for his wonderful pictures of landscapes, trees and of course all sorts of dancers.

Bennett is attending the rehearsals of Scapino and The National Ballet Amsterdam for many years now, because the dancing bodies inspire him enormously. With only a few lines and some expressive colours Bennett shows the essence of the dance movements. The dancing people, flying through the air in a jump or grand jeté, look like they can jump of the paper any moment.

Come and see the exposition of Humphrey Bennett in DanceStreet, running until the end of February. It’s a must for all art and dance lovers!

Peter van Stralen   September 1st until December 2nd 2007
  Fremdkörper

From September 1st until December 2nd the photographer Peter van Stralen will exhibit a selection of his latest series of photos: ‘Fremdkörper’, made in co-operation with the dancers from the Arnhem Dance Company ‘Introdance’ and the students from the Arnhem Dance Academy.

In the usual nude photography most pictures are quite predictable and banal. Therefore, Peter has chosen to light the female body from a different perspective: not ordinary, not erotic, but rather peculiar. He does not see women just as familiar and sensual beings, but also as –pleasantly- wonderful beings. Thereby this series of photos reflects his astonishment about the phenomenon ‘woman’.

The official opening of this exhibition is Saturday September 29th from 18.30 till 20.00, prior to ‘Open Stage’ evening.

Victor L. Lerhard   March 'till May 2007

Free Flow

Victor L. Lerhard believes that we have all been given a Light to carry through this world. Throughout our life journey, our Light is constantly surrounded by darkness.

In order for our Light to shine bright and for us to achieve our soul purpose in this world, we need to share our positive energy with each other.
Light attracts Light.
Life is a process. The more we open up and share our positive energy, the easier and more fun it becomes. Life is about living and being really happy in whatever you do. The more positive energy you push out now, the greater life will become for all of us in the future.

Victor L. Lerhard has been painting since the 1990's and was educated in fine art at Farnham's A.E.C. (UK). He creates all his work with just his fingers. Thus, he has become known as ‘The Fingering Artist’.

  Piene Koning   31 december 2006 - 01 Januari 2007

Piene Koning made an important move in her life when she decided to quit her study and start a carrier as a painter. Painting always was the thing she loved most.
Besides art Piene also likes music a lot, and the tango in particular. The music of Piazolla and Gardel inspires her to make expressive and colourful paintings.

Annemieke Aerssens     September 2 until December 2, 2006

The art work which Annemieke Aerssens present, illuminates all facets of the theatre. The painter uses terms from the theatre world to reflect her experiences. It is striking that Aerssens by using colours - and line games realises a composition as a result of which the witness imagines himself on the stage.

Relevant is also how Annemieke translates terms such as timing, rhythm and tension arc into a visible form. Not less important for the painter are the personal feelings of a podium artist. How an artist feels himself, during and after a show is formulated in an expressive way by Annemiek. Also the process of making a show which results eventually in premiere, indicates Aerssens flawlessly.

Parallel to this, the technical side of the theatre such as the settings and the lightings important for the theatre and therefore also in the paintings of the artist.

The elements from the ambiguous world of the fine arts are very important for Annemieke to be aible to express emotions in her paintings. "When I'm busy painting, I'm a dancer, mimeplayer and witness all at the same time". The paintings of Aerssens are sparkling, dynamically and universal.
